This off-the-beaten-path Italian restaurant is rustic and cozy, yet it’s packed with residents trying to get away from the chaos of South Beach. Fortunately, they’ve discovered a location where they can do it where the relaxed atmosphere is completely authentic and the food is also excellent. Locally produced, creamy burrata cheese is served with pickled aubergines as antipasti. A compact pasta menu hits all the flavor cliches (the short rib lasagna is a customer favorite).

Time Out advice: Macchialina won’t empty your wallet like other South Beach eateries, but it’s still a good idea to save money wherever you can. Schedule a reservation for Thursdays when the majority of the homemade pasta meals are only $10 per dish, all night long. If you order seconds or thirds, we won’t hold it against you.
